Born in Brooklyn.
Made by Makers.

Every bottle we make is a reflection of the borough we call home — creative and full of character.

We started Breuckelen Distilling with a simple idea: spirits should tell a story about where they're made and who makes them. Our whiskies and gin are crafted from 100% New York ingredients and distilled in Brooklyn, by the people who believe in doing things the right way — not the easy way.

Our History

From Broken Ground
to Breuckelen

Breuckelen Distilling was born from the belief that real spirits should reflect real places. When we opened our doors in 2010, Brooklyn was buzzing with creative energy—and we wanted to bottle that spirit. We took our name from “Breuckelen,” the Dutch word for Brooklyn, a nod to the makers and dreamers who built this borough from the ground up.

Our Spirits
Start at Home

We make every bottle with ingredients grown close to home—New York grains like rye, wheat, corn, and barley, and botanicals sourced from regional farms and markets. From juniper and citrus to lavender and basil, each adds a layer of local character. Every step, from field to still, happens in New York. It's our way of keeping flavor honest, sustainable, and unmistakably ours.

Our Brooklyn Distillery

Our Home, Our Workshop

Our distillery is more than a production space—it’s a workshop built for makers. Inside our Brooklyn home, copper stills hum, barrels line the walls, and every recipe is shaped by hand. We distill in small batches, guided by instinct and fueled by creativity. Tools show wear, ideas spark, and music fills the air—because for us, craft isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.

  • Our Column still

Our column still was custom-built for us in Eislingen, Germany and delivered to Brooklyn in 2010. With eight copper plates—more than typically used for whiskey—it allows us to reach a higher proof in a single run, creating a cleaner, softer spirit that defines whiskies like The Local. Fully copper and powered by steam with chilled-water condensing, it delivers clarity, consistency, and the bright, refined base we rely on in every batch.

    At the Heart of It

This still gives us the clarity and control we need to shape the spirits we want to drink. Every run teaches us something new, and that curiosity is part of what keeps our whiskey and gin so distinct.

  • Our Process

Our process begins with whole grains sourced from New York farmers—many organic or transitional—including partners like Oechsner Farm in Newfield. We mill each batch fresh, mash onsite, and use filtered NYC tap water to shape the character of our spirits. Every step is guided by sensory evaluation rather than tradition alone, letting flavor drive our decisions from botanical distillation to barrel finishing in Brooklyn. The result is spirits defined by intention, place, and the pursuit of exceptional taste.

    How We Make It

We trust our senses more than any recipe—taste, smell, and feel guide every decision we make. That’s how we build spirits with real character, not just consistency.

  • Our People

The heart of Breuckelen Distilling is the people who bring our spirits to life. Our small team blends experience with the grit and creativity that define Brooklyn, shaping every batch with care. Their maker spirit shows up in every bottle we create.

    From the Team

We’re makers at heart—curious, collaborative, and always experimenting. Every bottle is a reflection of the people behind it.

We Make What We Believe In

Being a maker means taking pride in every step—from the grains we mill to the hands that shape each batch. Our process starts with New York farms and finishes in our Brooklyn distillery, where craftsmanship meets creativity. We experiment, refine, and build spirits that reflect where they come from and the people who make them.
